I've been to a lot of places that sell tempura shrimp and have been disappointed because a batch of old batter. This batter for the fried shrimp was fresh and was properly prepared. A+ Good guys!

I was looking for somewhere new to try in the area and came across Tokyo 1 via yelp. My wife, my mother, and I decided to try it and were really impressed!. We ordered several dishes and shared them family style just to get a taste of everything. We started with the spicy garlic edamame as reccomended by other reviewers. They were delicious and not too spicy. We also had an order of egg rolls which were cooked perfectly and served with a sweet and sour sauce. For our entrees we shared an order of combination fried rice, Jap Chae, and a Murphy's Roll(I think I am remembering that name correctly). Everything was so yummy. The combination fried rice was prepared well and seemed to be made to order and fresh. The Jap Chae's glass noodles were so good; I loved their texture and flavor. The Murphy's Roll was great and was suggest by our host as well as the table next to us. Though the price seemed a little high for a sushi roll, it was substantial enough to be considered an entree and would fill most diners up. We came during what seemed to be a dinner rush. The restaurant was busy but there were tables available and we were seated immediately. The seating is a mix of booths and typical cafe chairs. It is bright and welcoming. It doesn't scream kitschy like many asian dining options in the area, but instead the decor is tasteful and slightly understated. The food does most of the talking here. The service was great. You can tell the owners and staff really care about their customers satisfaction. I think we were seen and served by every member of staff that night. We had few questions about the menu and asked for help ordering. The staff obliged and gave great suggestions. I read the one star review on here and I was a little hesitant to go. I am a person of size and I was worried I might be made to feel uncomfortable. This was not the case. Everyone I interacted with had a smile and was happy to serve me. I cannot speak for that other review, but I felt very welcome and did not feel judged in the least. I would reccomend Tokyo 1 to anyone who enjoys Asian cuisine. It is one of the best options for this style of food that I have found in the petroplex. It can be a little spendy, but honestly everything in this area is priced high. I will be back to try some more sushi and ramen soon!

My, oh, my this place is AWESOME! I've had my share of sushi around the world and this little gem of a restaurant is right up there with the best of them. Hands down the best spicy garlic edema me I've ever had and the sushi rolls were on point. Highly recommend this place.

Finding fresh sushi in Midland, Texas is not a likely thing, but with this place, you can assure yourself you will be getting the best and freshest fish on the market. The aesthetic of this place was absolutely comforting. The Owner treats you as if you were family if you're looking for anywhere to get sushi in Midland Texas it doesn't get better than this place. this small family owned business is definitely one of the best spots I've been in the waitresses are very polite, very swift and very efficient. The place is clean as a whistle. The prices may be a little high, but at the end of the day you definitely get what you pay for.

One of my favorite places in Midland. It would probably be easier to say what I don't like at this place. I mean literally everything is so good. The Sushi, the Udon, Ramen, Fried Rice, Bibim Bap, Egg rolls, it's all amazing. The older man who is always in there is super sweet and always talks to us. Service is usually quick and perfect!
